Thomas Giles: Professional special effects
makeup artist/Actor
Professional, crafty, witty, with a twisted imagination;
Thomas Giles has been a pleasure to work with
over the years.  I first met Tom while casting for what
was then the biggest R.W. Films production
“Vampire Mistress”.

I felt lucky to stumble across a special effects make-
up artist of Tom’s caliber in my own backyard.  His
work on “The infected” really made the production
stand out.

Like in one of those 70’s exploitation films; “Vampire
Mistress” was lacking on budget and production
equipment, but was packing in the make-up
department thanks to Tom and his amazing work.
An outside production company represented the
pilot episode for “Vampire Mistress” for one year and
often praised the level of the make-up effects.

Mistress: The Infected World".  Thomas
helped create the look for the films
"Infected Patients".
I had the opportunity to work with Tom again, this time on a creature feature entitled “The Bradenton Monster”.  Again,
this was one of my first short films that was lacking in budget.  Tom took the short to the next level by not only creating
the creature in the film but performing the part.  I had a great time working with him on the short, and we’ve had talks of
creating more “creature feature” films.

In a time with digital compositing, CGI effects, High Definition, and an overall increase in technology in the film industry I feel
we often lose touch with the “old ways” of horror film-making.   Genius’s like Rick Baker (American Werewolf in London), and
Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead; & Creepshow 2) are being replaced by those that work “entirely” behind a keyboard.  Though
this technology has advanced the industry greatly, we must remember what contributed to the classic horror films that often
inspire the works of today.

self.
Thomas Giles is one of those “old school” makeup artists with new and innovative ideas.  We look forward to
working with Tom again on future productions and would recommend him to both amateur and professional film
makers alike.  Easy going, professional kit, with the skills to match, Thomas Giles will be a name you will continue to
hear in this “Digital Age” of film making.
